Who We Are
The founder of Green Diesels is Ken Oldrid of Wallingford, Vermont. Ken started learning about using vegetable oil as fuel in diesel engines back in 2001. He was intrigued by this concept as it combined his two loves-the environment and automobiles.
In the spring of 2002, Ken bought his first diesel for $500. He converted it using mostly recycled car parts and personally logged 10,000 miles. This success inspired Ken to commit himself to researching and developing his own system. Rumor has it the car is still running down in Arizona as of fall, 2005.
Over the past four years Ken has experimented with different strategies and worked to develop a more refined system. He has personally converted over 50 vehicles to run on vegetable oil including cars, vans, trucks, buses, and tractors. He has taught several hands-on Biofuels workshops at the Yestermorrow Design/Build School and at Solarfest.
Our Mission
One of the goals of Green Diesels is to share the knowledge of vegetable oil use in a diesel engine. The two ways we do this are through teaching workshops and working hands-on with vehicle owners to convert their own diesels. We continually test new products and strategies to offer the most durable and user friendly products available.
